The Creator

The designer, Virgínia Mussi, is very happy! That’s because her sweet creations, the cute and cuddly Qui Qui Biscuit dolls, have transformed into one of the youngest and most successful licensed characters in the country.100% Brazilian, Joana (in Portuguese Joana means ladybug) and Ninho, Bombom (in Portuguese, Bombom means sweets) and Loui, Chen-Lee and Fofee, Melly and Seesy, the eight characters that together form the Qui Qui Biscuit dolls, reached the market just six years ago. However, they are already printed on the cover of student planners, binders, notebooks, cards, pencil cases, bags, suitcases, cups, jars, balls, plush toys, and pillows.

Passionate about cartoons and a fan of cinematographic productions, Virgínia’s objective was to create doll characters that did not have the values dictated by fashion. “Therefore, the Qui Qui dolls are cute and short – a counterbalance to the slender standard seen in modern fashion,” explains Virgínia. They belong to diverse ethnic groups, representing the diversity of the nation.

For the designer, it is important also that the characters transmit values such as respect, sense of justice, and responsibility – that’s one of the reasons why each doll has a pet. "They feel more responsible because they are taking care of another being, just like kids,” she affirms.

Virgínia believes that each of her creations have a little of her own personality, but she admits that her friends say she is most like Bombom. “Perhaps because, just like Bombom, I love to eat sweets!” she says. Virgínia’s principal influences are comics and drawings. Like every mother, the artist is happy that her "daughters" have conquered the hearts and affection of the public.

The designer attributes a great part of her success to the work of her partner, Andréia Boneti, a professional specialized in licensing, and to her eternal and dedicated companion, Fábio Avenoso, as well as to trusted friends and partners. “All are working so that the Qui Qui label grows with a lot of love and so that the brand enchants people with its affection and tenderness,” Virgínia concludes.
